PRAYER-POINTS FOR OUR STREETS:
Day 16 Of 21 Days Of Prayer And Fasting.
Across the United Kingdom, the safety of our streets has become a pressing concern for families, neighbourhoods, and communities. While the nation remains one of the safest globally in many regards, certain forms of crime continue to affect daily life and the sense of security many once took for granted.
Official data shows that in the year ending March 2025, police recorded 535 homicide offences across England and Wales, a slight decrease from previous years but still representing hundreds of families affected by violent death. Police statistics also show that around 53,047 knife-enabled crimes were recorded in the same period, many involving assault or threats, and knives were used in about 40 % of homicides. These figures reflect a continuing challenge with violence in public places.
Theft remains a widespread issue as well. In the year ending September 2024, there were 375,048 reported vehicle thefts across England and Wales, and theft offences overall accounted for millions of crimes against individuals and households.
Although some categories of crime, such as residential burglary and overall homicide, have fallen in recent years, the numbers remain significant and represent real human suffering, loss and fear. These statistics remind us that we are called not only to pray but to intercede, standing in the gap for neighbourhoods, families and vulnerable people.
In the midst of these difficult realities, God’s word assures us of His heart for cities and those who dwell in them:
“And seek (inquire for, require, and request) the peace and welfare of the city to which I have caused you to be carried away captive; and pray to the Lord for it, for in the welfare of [the city in which you live] you will have welfare.”
With this in mind, let us pray boldly for the transformation of our streets, the peace of our communities, and the salvation of hearts across this nation.
PRAYER POINTS FOR OUR STREETS
1. PRAYER FOR THE PRESERVATION OF LIFE
“The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.”
Proverbs 15:29 (KJV)
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we recognise that human life is sacred to You. We pray against all forms of violence, murder and bloodshed on the streets of the UK. Preserve life, break the cycles of anger and retaliation, and draw those at risk of harming others into Your mercy. Let peace prevail in communities that have known fear, in Jesus’ name.
2. PRAYER AGAINST THIEVES, BURGLARY AND CAR THEFT
“Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.”
Proverbs 24:11 (KJV)
Prayer:
Lord, we pray against the spirit of theft that has brought loss and insecurity to so many. We pray for the protection of homes, vehicles and personal property. Turn the hearts of would-be thieves toward godly purpose and repentance, and grant wisdom and effectiveness to law enforcement, in Jesus’ name.
3. PRAYER FOR THE SAFETY OF NEIGHBOURHOODS
“Seek the peace of the city… and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.”
Jeremiah 29:7 (KJV)
Prayer:
Father, we intercede for peace in every town, city and village in the UK. Let Your peace reign where there has been fear; let neighbourhoods be places where families feel safe to walk, work and live. Cause hatred and violence to flee, and let Your peace that surpasses understanding guard these streets, in Jesus’ name.
4. PRAYER FOR POLICE, SECURITY SERVICES AND COMMUNITY GUARDIANS
“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”
Proverbs 14:34 (KJV)
Prayer:
Lord, we pray for police officers, community support officers, security personnel and volunteers who stand on the front lines. Grant them courage, wisdom and strength. Let righteousness guide their actions, and may they be instruments of justice and protection rather than fear, in Jesus’ name.
5. PRAYER FOR HEART TRANSFORMATION IN THE YOUTH
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
Prayer:
God of hope, we lift up young people across the nation—those vulnerable to peer pressure, violence, gang involvement or rebellion. Renew their minds, draw them to Christ, and break every pattern of destructive behaviour. Replace rebellion with purpose, and fear with the knowledge of Your love, in Jesus’ name.
6. PRAYER AGAINST FEAR AND ANXIETY ON OUR STREETS
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear…”
1 John 4:18 (KJV)
Prayer:
Lord, release Your perfect love into every heart that has been touched by fear because of crime or threat. Let families walk boldly without dread; let youth ride public transport without fear; let strangers become neighbours in trust. Cast out fear and fill us with courage that comes from You alone, in Jesus’ name.
7. PRAYER FOR JUDICIAL FAIRNESS AND CONSEQUENCES FOR OFFENDERS
“Let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.”
Amos 5:24 (KJV)
Prayer:
Father, we pray for justice that is fair, firm and tempered with mercy. Let courts recognise the seriousness of offences against persons and property, and let sentencing reflect accountability and restoration. Heal the broken-hearted victims of crime, and let Your righteousness flow through every judgement, in Jesus’ name.
8. PRAYER FOR GRACE AND SALVATION FOR PERPETRATORS
“And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people…”
Jeremiah 24:7 (KJV)
Prayer:
God of redemption, we pray not only for the protection of victims but also for the salvation of those who commit crimes. Soften hardened hearts. Let Your Spirit confront and convert minds clouded by violence, greed and hate. Bring them into Your kingdom of light and peace, in Jesus’ name.
Father, we declare Your word over our streets:
“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
Psalm 91:11 (KJV)
We pray for angelic intervention, divine protection and a turning of the tide across every urban street, suburban lane and rural road in the United Kingdom.
Let righteousness prevail, let peace be established, and let every crime-ridden corner be transformed by Your presence, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
