PRAYERS FOR FAMILIES

Part 2: Rebuilding, Guarding, and Advancing the Family Altar

Day 15 Of 21 Days Of Prayer And Fasting.

INTRODUCTION: REBUILDING WHAT THE ENEMY TARGETS

When the enemy attacks an institution repeatedly, it is proof of its strategic value. The intensity of satanic assault on families across generations reveals how central the family is to God’s redemptive agenda.

Families today are under pressure from every side: moral confusion, spiritual apathy, economic strain, broken communication, and generational wounds. Yet Scripture assures us that God is not merely interested in saving individuals; He is committed to restoring households.

God is a restorer. Where foundations have been damaged, He rebuilds. Where gates have been broken, He reinforces. Where altars have collapsed, He reignites fire.

“And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.”
Isaiah 58:12 (KJV)

Prayer is the divine tool by which families are rebuilt, preserved, and advanced. In this second part, we focus on restoration, protection, spiritual authority, and generational continuity

1. PRAYERS FOR THE RESTORATION OF BROKEN FAMILIES

“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
Psalm 34:18 (KJV)

“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”
Joel 2:25 (KJV)

Prayer:
Father, we come before You acknowledging areas of brokenness within our families. Where there has been loss, misunderstanding, separation, or deep wounds, we ask for Your healing hand. Restore what time, sin, neglect, and spiritual attack have damaged. Heal hearts, renew love, and bring reconciliation where relationships have fractured. Let our families testify of Your restoring power, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

2. PRAYERS FOR SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP IN THE HOME

“For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment…”
Genesis 18:19 (KJV)

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”
Ephesians 5:25 (KJV)

Prayer:
Lord, raise godly leaders within our homes. Grant parents wisdom, humility, and grace to lead by example. Let fathers lead with love and responsibility, and mothers with strength and discernment. Remove spiritual passivity and replace it with holy conviction. May our homes be governed by Your Word and guided by Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

3. PRAYERS FOR PROTECTION OVER FAMILIES

“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”
Psalm 34:7 (KJV)

“The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
Psalm 121:8 (KJV)

Prayer:
Father, we place our families under Your divine covering. Let Your angels encamp around our homes. Preserve us as we go out and as we come in. Shield our families from accidents, evil influences, premature death, and unseen dangers. Let the peace of God reign within our households, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

4. PRAYERS AGAINST GENERATIONAL PATTERNS AND CURSES

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us…”
Galatians 3:13 (KJV)

“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

Prayer:
In the name of Jesus, we stand on the finished work of the cross. Every ungodly pattern, inherited struggle, and destructive cycle operating in our families is broken. We declare that old things have passed away. We receive new beginnings, new foundations, and godly patterns for this generation and the next, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

5. PRAYERS FOR PEACE AND ORDER IN THE HOME

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV)

“Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.”
Proverbs 17:1 (KJV)

Prayer:
Lord, we invite Your peace into our homes. Silence every voice of confusion, tension, and unrest. Teach us to communicate with wisdom, patience, and love. Let our homes become places of rest, safety, and joy, where Your presence is honoured daily, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

6. PRAYERS FOR FAMILY ALTARS AND SPIRITUAL CONSISTENCY

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15 (KJV)

“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
Acts 2:42 (KJV)

Prayer:
Father, rekindle the fire of devotion within our families. Help us to be consistent in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship. Remove distractions that weaken our spiritual discipline. Establish strong family altars that will sustain us through every season of life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

7. PRAYERS FOR A GODLY LEGACY

“One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.”
Psalm 145:4 (KJV)

“The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.”
Proverbs 20:7 (KJV)

Prayer:
Lord, let our lives speak well to the generations after us. May our children and grandchildren walk in truth, wisdom, and reverence for You. Let our families be remembered not merely for success, but for faithfulness and obedience to God, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

CLOSING EXHORTATION

Families do not collapse overnight, and neither are they restored overnight. Restoration is often progressive, but it is always powerful when God is involved. As you continue to pray, trust that heaven is responding even when results are still forming.

Stand firm. God is committed to your family.
