PRAYER POINTS FOR CONSECRATION
21 Days of Prayer and Fasting – Day One
INTRODUCTION: A CALL TO CONSECRATION
As we begin these 21 days of prayer and fasting, the first and most important call from God is a call to consecration.
Before we seek answers, breakthroughs, healing, or provision, the Lord calls us to set ourselves apart wholly unto Him.
Consecration is not punishment; it is alignment.
It is not restriction; it is positioning.
It is not loss; it is complete surrender that leads to divine fullness.
WHAT IS CONSECRATION?
Consecration is a word that was once common in the Church but is not often heard today. Yet it remains foundational to a powerful walk with God.
By definition, consecration means:
1.The act of dedicating oneself to the service and worship of God
2.To make holy or set apart for a higher, divine purpose
3.To associate oneself with what is sacred
In Scripture, consecration means to be set apart from common use and dedicated wholly to God.
In the Old Testament, the primary Hebrew word is qāḏash, which means to sanctify, to make holy, or to separate unto God.
To consecrate something was to remove it from ordinary use and mark it as belonging exclusively to the Lord. This speaks of ownership, separation, and devotion rather than merely moral behaviour.
Another Hebrew expression linked to consecration is maleʾ yāḏ—literally “to fill the hand.” This phrase was used in theconsecration of priests and conveys the idea of being authorised, equipped, and entrusted for divine service. Consecration, therefore, is not only separation from sin but preparation for assignment.
In the New Testament, the Greek word hagiazō carries the same idea and means to sanctify, to make holy, and to set apart for God’s sacred purpose. Here, consecration is presented as an ongoing work of surrender and transformation, accomplished through God’s truth and the work of the Holy Spirit. Closely related is the concept of cleansing, emphasising that purification precedes dedication.
Taken together, the biblical picture of consecration is this:
it is a deliberate, willing surrender by which a person, place, or object is cleansed, set apart, and placed under God’s ownership, so it can be fully usable for His purposes
It is saying, “Lord, I am Yours—completely, willingly, and forever.”
THE PRAYER OF CONSECRATION: RESTORING ALIGNMENT
Consecration is like repairing the wiring in a house .
Before power can flow, alignment must be restored.
Many people pray for protection, favour, and provision, yet overlook consecration. When alignment is missing, spiritual power is restricted.
Consecration is the intentional act of bringing our lives, homes, work, bodies, and desires under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the rule of His Kingdom.
