PRAYER POINTS FOR SINGLE PARENTS

Day 19 Of 21 Days Of Prayer And Fasting.

THE NEED TO PRAY FOR SINGLE PARENTS

Single parents carry a unique and often heavy responsibility. Many are raising children while standing alone in roles that were never designed to be borne by one person. They provide, nurture, protect, discipline, teach, and spiritually cover their households—often while navigating grief, disappointment, financial strain, exhaustion, and isolation.

Some became single parents through loss, separation, divorce, abandonment, or unexpected life circumstances. Others stepped into the role through adoption or guardianship. Regardless of how the journey began, the challenges are real: rising living costs, limited support, emotional fatigue, co-parenting tensions, housing pressures, and concern for their children’s future.

Yet Scripture assures us that God is a defender of families, a helper of the weary, and a Father to those who feel alone. As the Church and as families, we are called to stand with single parents—not only practically, but spiritually. Today, we lift them before the Lord in prayer.

1. Strength for Daily Responsibilities

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”Psalm 46:1

Prayer:

Father, we pray that You will strengthen every single parent. Where they feel overwhelmed, be their refuge. Where they feel weak, be their strength. Uphold them daily by Your power.

2. Financial Provision and Stability

“And my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:19

Prayer:

Lord, we ask for divine provision for single parents. Supply their needs—housing, food, school fees, childcare, and transport. Release financial stability and remove anxiety about tomorrow.

3. Wisdom to Raise Children Well

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”James 1:5

Prayer:

Father, grant single parents wisdom to raise their children in love, discipline, and truth. Help them make sound decisions and lead their homes with understanding and grace.

4. Peace in the Heart and Mind

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:7

Prayer:

Lord, we pray for peace over every single parent. Quiet anxious thoughts, calm troubled hearts, and let Your peace guard their minds amid pressure and responsibility.

5. Emotional Healing and Restoration

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindethup their wounds.”

— Psalm 147:3

Prayer:

Father, heal every emotional wound—grief, rejection, disappointment, or pain from the past. Restore joy and wholeness, and let no hurt hinder their parenting or peace.

6. Protection Over Their Children

“The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”Psalm 121:7–8

Prayer:

Lord, we ask for divine protection over the children of single parents. Guard them from harm, negative influences, and danger. Preserve them in every place and season.

7. Support Systems and Destiny Helpers

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.”

— Ecclesiastes 4:9–10

Prayer:

Father, surround single parents with the right support—family, friends, mentors, and helpers. Let them not walk alone. Raise people who will lift, encourage, and stand with them.

8. Strength Against Burnout and Exhaustion

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28

Prayer:

Lord, we pray against burnout and exhaustion. Grant rest for weary bodies and souls. Teach single parents to find renewal and strength in You.

9. Favour in Work, School, and Decisions

“For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”

Psalm 5:12

Prayer:

Father, release favour over single parents—in workplaces, schools, housing matters, and all decisions concerning their families. Let doors open that no one can shut.

10. Stability at Home and Housing Security

“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it.”

Psalm 127:1

Prayer:

Lord, establish stable homes for single parents. Provide secure housing and peaceful environments where families can thrive. Let their households be built by You.

11. Grace for Healthy Co-Parenting

“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”

Romans 12:18

Prayer:

Father, where co-parenting exists, release wisdom, maturity, and peace. Remove strife and confusion. Let children grow in stability and love, free from conflict.

12. Spiritual Covering and Consistency

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”Joshua 24:15

Prayer:

Lord, strengthen the spiritual lives of single parents. Help them remain rooted in prayer and faith. Let their homes be places where You are honoured and worshipped.

13. Joy and Hope for the Future

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”Jeremiah 29:11

Prayer:

Father, restore hope and joy. Remind single parents that their future is secure in You. Let them look ahead with confidence and expectation.

14. Blessing Upon Their Children’s Destiny

“And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.”Isaiah 54:13

Prayer:

Lord, bless the children of single parents. Let them grow in wisdom, peace, and purpose. May they fulfil destiny and become testimonies of Your grace.

CLOSING DECLARATION

Father, we declare that single parents are not alone. You are their helper, their provider, and their strength. Their labour will not be in vain, their children will flourish, and their homes will be preserved by Your hand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
