PRAYER POINTS FOR DEEPER HUNGER FOR GOD.PART 2

Day 13 Of 21 Days Of Prayer And Fasting.

THE TRUE CONCEPT OF FASTING AND THE POWER IT GENERATES

Yesterday, we covered several concepts on fasting. Today, we will complete the discussion by looking at the remaining four.
To fully grasp this teaching, I strongly encourage you to revisit yesterday’s teaching.

As we learnt yesterday,Fasting is the act of giving up something that is important to you—sometimes even more important than food. However, food itself must be properly understood, because food is a primary requirement of life. The issue is not food, but the mastery food has over appetite. Fasting is not the rejection of food; it is the regulation of appetite so that spiritual realities can take precedence.

LETS LOOK AT FASTING AND JUSTICE

The third and critical dimension of fasting is helping the helpless. Many people claim they are fasting, yet they remain callous and oppressive. When a person truly turns to the Lord, one of the first things that happens is that God begins to reveal His standards to that person. God’s standards are always consistent with His nature, and His nature is love. Therefore, no man can genuinely claim to have turned to the Lord while remaining unjust, unkind, or indifferent toward others.

This truth is clearly revealed in Isaiah 58:5–6:

Isaiah 58:5–6 (KJV)
“Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?
Is not this the fast that I have chosen; to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?”

God confronted Israel while they were fasting and afflicting themselves. He questioned the legitimacy of their fast because it produced no justice, no mercy, and no compassion. God made it clear that fasting is not merely external affliction, religious symbolism, or bodily punishment.

True fasting must reflect in how people treat one another. If a man claims to have turned to the Lord, that transformation must reflect in his relationships. If it does not, God says plainly that He does not recognise such a fast.

This same rebuke appears in Zechariah 7:4–10:

Zechariah 7:4–10 (KJV)
“Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,
Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?
And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?
Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity…
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:
And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.”

Here, God revealed that a people fasted for seventy years, yet their fast carried no spiritual weight because injustice and oppression remained in their lives.

There is a difference between righteousness and justice:

• Righteousness is the ability to stand before God.
• Justice is the ability to function like God.

If justice, kindness, love, and fairness are absent, then regardless of how long the fast lasts, God does not recognise it. In fact, fasting done in malice, bitterness, or wickedness often produces sickness because there is no divine power backing it.

FASTING AND HUMILITY

The fourth defining dimension of fasting is humility.

God Himself instituted fasting as a means of humbling the soul. This is revealed in Deuteronomy 8:3:

Deuteronomy 8:3 (KJV)
“And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.”

Fasting humbles a person whether they desire it or not. Physical strength diminishes, pride weakens, and self-sufficiency erodes. Beyond physical effects, fasting reshapes the soul and creates an environment where God begins to speak.

Often, when God speaks during fasting, He begins by addressing issues of the flesh—pride, lust, ego, and self-exaltation—because the flesh and the spirit are in constant conflict.

Galatians 5:17 (KJV)
“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”

David understood this mystery and testified in Psalm 35:13:

Psalm 35:13 (KJV)
“But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.”

Fasting carries within it a divine mechanism for humbling the soul.

THE POWER OF FASTING: DIVINE FAVOUR

When fasting is done correctly—through discipline, justice, prayer, and humility—it generates power. One of the greatest powers fasting produces is divine favour.

THE EXAMPLE OF ESTHER

In Esther 4:16, Israel faced annihilation under imperial decree:

Esther 4:16 (KJV)
“Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.”

Esther understood that fasting could generate favour strong enough to override law and protocol. After the fast, she entered the king’s presence, and favour went to work.

Esther 5:2–3 (KJV)
“And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand.
Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.”

That favour was not cosmetic—it was spiritual. It was the perfume of heaven released through fasting.

Scripture confirms:

Proverbs 21:1 (KJV)
“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”

THREE EFFECTS OF DIVINE FAVOUR

1. Favour Opens the Heavens
A man whose heavens are open cannot be limited by environment. This is demonstrated in Acts 10:1–4 concerning Cornelius:

Acts 10:1–4 (KJV)
“There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion…
A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.”

Fasting and prayer opened heaven and broke religious protocol.

2. Favour Commands the Allegiance of Men
Even Jesus grew in favour:

Luke 2:52 (KJV)
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”

Favour causes men to consider it an honor to serve.

3. Favour Produces Wealth Transfer

Scripture declares that wealth comes by divine empowerment:

Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)
“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant…”

And:

Exodus 12:36 (KJV)
“And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.”

Hard work is necessary, but favour is the perfume that opens doors labor alone cannot.

CONCLUSION

Fasting is not starvation.
Fasting is alignment.
Fasting is justice.
Fasting is prayer.
Fasting is humility.
Fasting is power.

When done God’s way it’s a force that opens heavens, breaks protocols, commands men, and transfers wealth.

That is the fast the Lord has chosen.

PRAYER POINTS FOR GOD’S FAVOUR.

As we pray these prayers, we are not striving for approval, but agreeing with what God has already promised.

1. Thanksgiving for God’s Favour

Psalm 30:5 (KJV):
“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

Prayer:
Father, I thank You that Your favour is my portion. I acknowledge that Your favour brings life, restoration, and joy. I step into a new season where joy replaces every former sorrow.

2. Declaring Favour as a Shield

Psalm 5:12 (KJV):
“For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”

Prayer:
Lord, I declare that Your favour surrounds me like a shield. Let Your favour protect me, preserve me, and position me for Your divine purposes in every area of my life.

3. Growing in Favour with God and Man

Luke 2:52 (KJV):
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”

Prayer:
Father, I ask that I grow daily in wisdom, maturity, and favour. Let Your grace cause me to find acceptance and goodwill with You and with those You have placed in my life.

4. Favour That Opens Doors

Revelation 3:8 (KJV):
“I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”

Prayer:
Lord, open doors before me that no one can shut. Lead me into opportunities that align with Your will, and grant me favour to walk confidently through every door You open.

5. Favour That Brings Divine Help

Psalm 44:3 (KJV):
“For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.”

Prayer:
Father, I rely not on my own strength or ability. Let Your favour go before me and bring victory, provision, and help that can only come from You.

6. Favour That Distinguishes

Exodus 33:16 (KJV):
“For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.”

Prayer:
Lord, let Your presence and favour distinguish my life. Set me apart for Your glory, and let it be evident that Your hand is upon me.

7. Favour for Direction and Guidance

Psalm 90:17 (KJV):
“And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.”

Prayer:
Father, let Your beauty and favour rest upon me. Establish the work of my hands, give direction to my efforts, and cause what I do to prosper for Your glory.

8. Favour That Brings Restoration

Isaiah 60:10 (KJV):
“And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.”

Prayer:
Lord, I receive Your favour as a means of restoration. Where there has been loss or delay, let mercy and favour rebuild and restore what was broken.

9. Favour That Grants Access

Esther 2:17 (KJV):
“And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head.”

Prayer:
Father, grant me favour that gives me access to places, conversations, and opportunities aligned with Your purpose for my life.

10. Walking Daily in God’s Favour

Proverbs 3:3–4 (KJV):
“Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.”

Prayer:
Lord, help me to walk in mercy and truth daily. Let my life reflect Your character, and cause me to continually walk in favour with You and with others.

The favour of God is not occasional—it is a lifestyle for the believer. As we walk in obedience, humility, and faith, God’s favour rests upon us, goes before us, and establishes His purposes through us.

I declare that you are surrounded by favour, sustained by grace, and positioned for divine alignment in every season of your life.
